Orion to Standardise New Vehicle Coating Following Operational Review

Orion International has confirmed it will begin phasing out its long-standing pure black vehicle finish following the conclusion of an internal operational review.

In a short interview with Corporate representatives, OGNN was told that long-term deployment assessments identified the previous all-black coating as a contributing factor to reduced environmental clarity and sustained personnel fatigue across multiple operating zones.

While the black standard was effective during Orion’s early campaigns, officials stated that its continued use across all ground assets created what was described as a “visually heavy operating environment” during extended rotations.

“The original finish served its purpose,” a Corporate spokesperson said. “As Orion expands and stabilises its position, our vehicle standards must reflect operational efficiency and long-term cohesion.”

The organisation will transition to a new graphite grey-blue composite tone, replacing pure black across all standard Orion vehicles. The updated coating is intended to maintain a disciplined, recognisable appearance while improving daylight definition and overall environmental balance.

Testing is already underway on several flagship vehicles, with early feedback described as positive.

The rollout will take place gradually over the coming months, beginning with frontline ground vehicles before extending to aviation and logistics assets. Repainting will coincide with scheduled maintenance cycles to avoid disruption.

Corporate emphasised that the change is part of a broader refinement of operational standards as Orion continues to mature into a structured, permanent military entity.

Further updates are expected as additional vehicles receive the new coating.
