ORION Corporate representatives have announced the deployment of a prototype composite armour package across a limited number of operational vehicles in select theatres worldwide.
The programme is intended to evaluate the effectiveness of newly developed armour composites under real-world operational conditions, providing engineers with critical data before wider implementation across Orion’s vehicle fleet.
The prototype package has been integrated onto existing vehicle platforms and is designed to improve survivability against modern battlefield threats while maintaining vehicle mobility and operational flexibility.
Corporate officials have stated that these trials form part of a broader vehicle modernization initiative. Data gathered from the programme will directly support the future rollout of Orion’s next-generation vehicle coating system, which remains under development and is expected to provide additional protective and environmental resistance capabilities.
Field testing will continue over the coming months, with participating units providing operational feedback to Orion Research & Development teams. Further details regarding fleet-wide implementation will be released following completion of the evaluation period.
“Maintaining a technological advantage requires constant innovation. These trials represent another step toward ensuring Orion personnel have access to the most advanced protection systems available.” — Orion Corporate Development Directorate
