ORION INTERNATIONAL / OPERATIONAL ORDER

Blue Dawn #6: Exodus

01

Situation

Russian forces have crossed the border and begun a full-scale invasion of Azerbaijan. Local defensive positions have collapsed under the speed and weight of the advance, leaving countless refugees and survivors trapped behind enemy lines. ORION personnel have withdrawn to the remaining operational airfield, which is now being used as the final evacuation point for friendly forces, survivors and refugees who reached the perimeter.

Evacuation aircraft are moving personnel out of the country, but additional time is required to prepare the remaining passengers and equipment for departure. A defensible chokepoint along the primary Russian approach offers the only viable opportunity to prevent enemy forces from reaching the airfield before the evacuation is complete.

Russian forces are expected to deploy mechanised infantry, armoured vehicles and supporting reconnaissance elements against the position. Artillery and aircraft may be used once the defensive line has been identified. ORION cannot stop the invasion or hold the area indefinitely; the objective is to delay the Russian advance long enough for the evacuation to succeed and for the remaining force to escape.

02

Mission

Deploy to the designated evacuation area and secure the remaining evacuation routes. Protect UN personnel, civilians and ORION assets while transport operations are completed. Establish defensive positions, delay the Russian advance and prevent hostile forces from reaching the evacuation site. Once all remaining personnel have been extracted, destroy or deny any sensitive equipment that cannot be recovered and withdraw before ORION forces are surrounded.

03

Execution

  1. 01

    Construct Defensive Lines

Use available construction supplies, vehicles and natural terrain to fortify the designated chokepoint. Establish fighting positions, obstacles and fallback lines capable of slowing Russian infantry and armoured forces before they can reach the airfield.

  2. 02

    Delay the Russian Advance

Hold the chokepoint and prevent Russian forces from advancing towards the airfield while evacuation operations are underway. ORION is not expected to defeat the invasion; maintain the defence for as long as required and trade ground only when necessary.

  3. 03

    Protect the Airfield

Prevent Russian forces from reaching or disabling the airfield until all available ORION personnel, survivors and refugees have been evacuated. Once Command confirms that the evacuation is complete, withdraw from the chokepoint, reach the airfield and board the final C-130.
