Several major technology companies have announced a joint initiative aimed at establishing shared technical standards for next-generation data infrastructure.
According to a joint statement, the initiative focuses on improving interoperability between cloud platforms, data centres, and communication networks. The goal is to reduce fragmentation and improve long-term efficiency across the sector.
Industry representatives stated that the effort responds to growing demand from governments and businesses for more reliable and compatible digital systems. “As digital infrastructure becomes more interconnected, common standards are increasingly necessary,” one spokesperson said.
The initiative is expected to begin with a series of working groups and pilot projects later this year. Regulators in several regions have welcomed the announcement, noting that standardisation could reduce operational risk and improve cybersecurity resilience.
Further details are expected following an initial coordination summit scheduled for early spring.
